THANK YOU FROM PLUNKET.......
Dear John Thomas
I am writing to you on behalf of the Kapiti Plunket Committee to thank you and the Professionals team for your support and contribution to our recent fundraiser.
As you know know Plunket held a 'Craft & 2nd Hand Baby Gear Sale' on the 14th November to raise funds for the local Plunket Rooms. Your offer to sponsor the timber frames for our signs promoting the event was greatly appreciated. The custom-made frames gave our signs a 'Professional' touch that helped our advertisng stand out and reach our target audience.
Plunket is a child-centred and family focused organisation that provides care and support to New Zealand families/whanau. We are a small committee of hard-working mums supporting local families. We couldn't provide these services without the support of local businesses.
Kapiti Plunket would like to extend a special 'thank you' to Tom Potter who went above the call of duty to help Plunket out. He not only did a superb job of putting the signs up but offered to help apply overlays when we noticed an error on the signs.
The event was a great success and we hope to hold a simular event again next year.
Thank you once again for your support
Yours Sincerely
Rebecca Chisholm

We were once again delighted to sponsor the annual Paraparaumu Beach School 'Karnival' that took place on the 19th September. The hugely popular 'Monster Auction' was conducted by our very own Principal, Eddie Winkel.
We were thrilled to receive the following letter, thanking us for our continued support.....
22 September 2009
Dear Eddie
Thank you very much for your continued support. Advertising is a large overhead for a school fundraiser and yet essential to capture the wider community. Morgan did a fantastic job with the advert. We have had great feedback in that regard.
I thought the auction went well. You and your team did a great job and I thought we had some great competitive bidding despite being low on numbers. The auction raised $ 3 250 in total. A fabulous contribution to our fundraising!
Thanks for the wonderful auction prize. I had never heard of Total Experience and when I checked out their web site I was very impressed. I was disappointed that it didn’t go for more but I know the family who won the bid, so I will be following up with them.
With a few invoices outstanding we have not reached a final figure but estimate it to be in the region of $ 20 000. We are very pleased with the result.
Again, your contribution helped ensure the Kapiti Karnival was able to deliver the high quality and fun experience that people in our community have come to expect. The success of the Kapiti Karnival is greatly attributed to the generous support of local businesses and organisations such as Professionals Winkel Real Estate.
On behalf of Paraparaumu Beach School and the Kapiti Karnival Committee, thank you!
Kind Regards
Beverly Harley

Child Cancer Foundation Appeal

Child Cancer Foundation 2009
This year, Hana Ellis-Kaa from the North Shore, Auckland will represent the many children seeking to survive cancer for the Child Cancer Foundation. Five year old Hana was diagnosed with ALL leukemia in August 2007 when she was just three. ALL is the most common type of childhood cancer and responds well to treatment.
“In the first six months they had to totally bombarst [sic] it" says Hana's mum, Ngarino Ellis. There have been several side-effects and setbacks during treatment, seizures from chemotherapy and her academic and social development have slowed. No white blood cells and therefore no immunity means Hana had to be completely isolated.
Nevertheless, Ngarino says Hana has remained a bright, bubbly little girl who has a laid back, "cheeky monkey" attitude to life. It is her delightful manner which has helped Hana and her family get through many difficult times. Hana is currently on maintenance chemotherapy which they expect to continue for another year or so.
Hana is quite a delight, keen to play in the Wendy house and playing make-believe games of cooking food on the toy barbeque at the Family Place provided by Professionals for the Child Cancer Foundation. She was also keen to choose some DVDs and look up games on the computer.
Professionals are happy to have been part of making a significant difference in the lives of many children such as Hana with cancer and their families. We have been a key sponsor of the Child Cancer Foundation for more than 12 years and during this time have contributed over $3 million and countless volunteer hours.
Through the provision of the Sunshine Lodge holiday homes in Taupo and Queenstown these fully-furnished and equipped homes come as welcome respite to the families who are dealing with the rigmarole of caring for a child with cancer. In recent times, the occupancy rate of the Taupo Sunshine Lodge has increased to 98 per cent and the Queenstown Lodge to 70 per cent.
We have also made possible the purchase of the Family Places in Auckland and Wellington. These are located near the hospitals, providing a safe haven for families and a break away from the hospital atmosphere. The Family Places enable families to meet others facing the same challenges and gather information on issues of childhood cancer. It also gives the children with cancer and their siblings an environment to relax and play in.
This year, again our Professionals team will get out and about locally to raise money for the support of children like Hana and the Foundation. In many areas around the country, the local offices initiate specific appeal week activities to involve the community in the campaign.
2009 will be no different; you can expect to see us out and about doing what we can to lighten the load for families nationwide.
